Name.
Mörder ohne Gesicht1
Origin.
West Germany
Symbol.
The Mörder ohne Gesicht, unlike other gangs, do not use a tattoo for identification; instead, they have a "brand" seared onto their right shoulder in the shape of a skull, which gets re-branded every six months to keep it fresh. The member is responsible for taking care of it him/herself, and if she doesn't, it's regarded as his/her own fault and not the responsibility of the gang. The application of this brand is considered something of an initiation.
One highly recognizable aspect of the gang is their outfit--they all wear black motorcycle helmets and dress uniformly in black, though getting everything but the helmets is the responsibility of each member.
Signs.
None. There is no way to identify a Mörder other than the mark on their back and burnt fingertips.2
Leader.
TBA
Organization.
The Mörder ohne Gesicht are organized like a hand - four "Fingers," each with unique responsibilities, and a "Thumb" leading all of them. Each of these five have a "Nail," which is like a personal bodyguard/assassin. The duties are divided as such:
Thumb: Oversees entire gang; makes and approves all final plans and decisions.
Index: Assists the Thumb or any other Finger.
Middle: Directs those in the Palm and all Mörders therein; initiates and trains new recruits; enforces the "rules."
Ring: Takes care of the finances; oversees drug shipments; does all interaction with the police or other gangs.
Pinky: Selects, trains, and oversees "special" members; finds new hideouts, locations, and resources; information gathering.
The rest of the members are among one big, unified pool, referred to as being "in the Palm." None of them are any higher or lower than another, but instead are sorted into groups. These groups are:
Fists: Basic members. Good with hand-to-hand combat, one or two personally chosen weapons, and basic pistol use. Henchmen, grunt work.
Feet: Drug pushers. Same as Fists, but deal with civilians and deliver all profits straight to the Index. Cocaine, heroin, morphine, marijuana, mushrooms and specific medications are their main sales. Always travel armed and with a Fist partner to ensure the safety of the material.
Arms: Specialists. (Not to be confused with "Specials.") Trained the same as the Fists, and then given additional training in one particular, hard-to-get weapon. Rifles, demolitions, or advanced hand-to-hand included. Most Nails are in this category before they're promoted.
Legs: The traders. Arrange for and receive smuggled shipments, and keep a close watch on the movements of the black market so that sales and the like can be made. They never do business themselves, most often leaving this to the Feet for delivery.
Pockets: Thieves. Most often steal from hospitals and restaurants for medicine, food, utensils and other things to sell on the black market.
Brief History.
Not much is known about how the Mörder ohne Gesicht started; its presence in West Germany was mostly a gradual process. It was distinctive from other local gangs simply because it was neither politically slanted nor based around the possession of motorcycles. After gaining money and influence over the course of a few years via drug trade, extortion, and hired violence, they began to gain international influence, particularly in Western Europe and the Baltic countries.
Footnotes:
1 - This is used to refer to the gang as a whole, but a member is always referred to as a "Mörder" (Killer).
2 - Upon initiation, a fresh Mörder will have to go through a certain identity-stripping process. This is to ensure they have no more sentimental ties to the world or themselves--the relatively short life expectancy of a recruit requires this. They have to, in order:
a) Fight another recruit hand-to-hand and draw blood
b) Burn off their fingertips by placing them on burning hot metal
c) Receive their brand by one of the Fingers or the Thumb
d) Burn down their previous home, leaving all forms of ID or personal belongings inside
e) Choose a new name: name can be either one given name or a German word
